Please define “slam”

Except that it doesn't correlate in the least bit to damping factor. I can give as many examples of amps with a lower damping factor as with a higher damping factor when it comes to the PERCEPTION of "slam" (whatever definition may be assigned).

IME, it's more a part of the voicing than it is anything else. The problem is PERCEPTION, everybody perceives this a little bit different.

Punch is also something that each person will define a bit different.

To me punch is also about having tone that is clear, dynamic, and resonant, but it relates more to the lows and low mids, while slam relates to low mids and sub bass. I.E. similar ideas just different parts of the frequency band.

No Aggie DB 751 users around to chime in yet? That's a surprise. Look up any thread about the DB and you'll see that word thrown around left and right. Apparently "no amp does it (slam) better".

Edit, somehow missed the 750 posted on page 1.

I would agree that the DB750 and probably the DB751 (which I haven't played) produce an exceptional amount of slam.

Whatever those spicy ones were that my grandmother had in crystal dishes...it was decades ago so probably not chili spice. But you are right, serrano and sausage gravy would slam. I might think twice on the gumdrop part.......

The term has a subjective definition. IMHO IMHO the best way to understand is to find one of the amps mentioned in the thread for slam, and take it for a cruise. A few seconds playing Aguilar DB750 or DB751 and I think you will probably get it. Possibly the "slammiest" amp I have ever played.

No affiliation, but the IG account @slamworldwide posts some pretty sweet bands. I often find myself adding bands to my library after scrolling past one of their posts.
