Please help fingerstyle technique

Let me see how i explain this...

When i play fingerstyle and i start on the Top E string playing a chromatic scale going down i start

Index middle index middle etc..


But when i start at the bottom lets say G string i start Middle INdex..

THe opposite..

Does this matter?


It seems when i fret with my pinky on my left hand i automatically pluck with my middle finger always..


Does anyone understand what im saying?

As long as my techinque is consistent it shouldnt really matter if i change the motion ascending or descending right?

It doesn't really matter.

What matters is that "bottom" is the E string and you're "going up" to the G string, which is "top". Always speak with pitch in mind.

It doesn't really matter as long as your dynamics are coinsistant.

But ideally you ought to be able to start on either finger as a matter of deliberate choice.
