Please help me ID these strings

Hi. I bought a used 2004 G&L L2000 recently. It's awesome. The strings it came with are old, sticky and pretty gross. I do love the tension and how they sound (even 100% dead).

Can anyone ID these strings? It's a long shot i know. I might resort to boiling or soaking in alcohol otherweise. The E and G string has red ends. The A is blue and the D is white. I m happy to take more pics. thanks.

Yes, 100%. This was one of the easiest ones, thanks to your pics.

Red/white/blue ball end color-scheme = Rotosound. Roundwound with red silk = SB66 Stainless Steel. (The nickel version would have light blue silk.)

Yep, Roto 66's. They could be new...even when new they are sticky feeling.

Thanks. Now i just gotta figure out the gague. I usually play 105-45. These are definitely lighter. maybe 95-40. Not positive. I might write into Roto and ask.

The only way you can tell what gauges they are is to measure them with a micrometer yourself. There would be no differences in terms of visual clues among different sets otherwise.

That said, the Roto SB66 SS rounds are at the stiffer end of the spectrum among SS rounds, so keep that in mind.

I usually use DR Sunbeams and Pure Blues. 45-105.

Both the SB and the PB are round-core and two of the more flexible strings around. The Roto SB66, on the other hand, are known for their stiffer feel due to the hex core. So, you might want to go lighter in gauges, either 40-60-80-100 or even 40-60-75-95.
