Looks like 60's early 70's MIJ, possibly Matsomoku.
Nothing fancy, for sure, but still possibly cool.

I have to agree some cheap 60's, early 70's MIJ Teisco or something like that.

Kinda looks like an old Silvertone also

Yep, looks like is it. wraub (and Rich) were on the right track. Here I found a "Tempo" bass guitar from the 60's made by Matsumoku. It's practically the same bass, with some differences in the headstock (the truss rod cover and the brand don't look like the same).

Man that is the same body and right, a little difference in the headstock.. I saw a Rossi bass on ebay that had the same headstock.

Yes, that headstock is pretty similar too! (Rossi branded, extrangely, it sounds like Italian, not Japanese)

But, US $545,00? C'mon! Are these Japanese-made basses so expensive today?

I know man, I go to the guitars shows here in the DFW area and I see these old POS guitars and basses at ridiculous prices. You should see some of the Russian old school guitars. Wow you talk about weird!! They just old not valuable. Rossi is a guy that is a custom builder that has nothing to do this.

You know as well as I do that so many of these companies in Japan, back in the day, just pumped out stuff for anybody and everybody and stuck that plastic name plate on them ..most fell off or were taken off due to embarrassment.

Yep, the guy sounds pretty cool. The first video I posted is playing fingerstyle, I prefer the sound of these old basses with a pick:



That's the sound I'm looking for... something like this:



I'm thinking that this sound is created with some kind of old bass like these 60's/70's Japanese-made.

I think you nailed it with the Tempo it just has a different truss cover and tuners.
They do sound better with a pick because the pickups sounded kinda dull back then.

Actually, some of those 60s basses were made in Italy also, before Japan got good at what they were doing.

EKO was the company and they made stuff for Vox, Goyatone, Silvertone, etc...

Man I know that. My first bass was an EKO made in Italy 1966. A lot of them were made there but you can always tell the MIJ vs MII.
