Please help solve my amp/upgrade dilemma

I'm a relatively new bassist and I started out playing on borrowed and very cheap equipment - a Fender Jazz with a Crate 220 W amp I got for $20, playing through a B52 GUITAR half stack. I've been upgrading piece by piece, though, trying to get the sound I'm longing for.

Right now I have a short-scale hollowbody with flats - no complaints there. I'm trying to get a vintage tone reminiscent of McCartney and/or Jamerson, though, and with my current set-up it's just not working.

I have a 200W Eden Nemesis 15" combo with a 4x10 GK Backline running in parallel. It can get plenty loud, but it just sounds too...modern. The 10s have too much treble and the 15 isn't hitting that sweet spot I'm looking for.

So I scored a great E-Bay deal on an SWR 4x12, on the basis of some great reviews. Figured I'd get the beefy low-end and low-mids I was looking for, but now I need to get a head as well.

So I started looking for affordable vintage heads - Kustoms, Sunns, Acoustics. And in the process - gah! - I found a guy who's willing to trade me a Kustom 150 stack with matching 2x15 (70-71 black vinyl tuck and roll) for my current setup. (The SWR 12-stack hasn't arrived yet.) Through some research I found that Jamerson himself played through something similar.

But this puts me in the spot of having to sell the 4x12 I just got, and...I'm just a little confused.

Anyone have any words of wisdom for me? Am I better off with a complete, vintage Kustom stack, or a newer 4x12 with an old head?

I think the other guy is doing better on the trade, so try to get some cash plus the Kustom setup.

To make a comparison, you have to hear how they sound first.

Also, is using the Kustom amp through SWR 412 a possibility? - you might like how that sounds.
