Please help to ID this 7 string bass

I just acquired this 7 string bass. I have no idea who made it, but I think it is late 80's. 7 strings, Bartolini pickups, Kahler bridge, I added a string tree, active / passive electronics.

Please help if you can... or send me in a direction.

Warmoth used to make a neck that had the pieces tapered like that.
Maybe a Warmoth body too?

conklin necks all have purple heart stripes like that not sure but it might be one ,they manufacture more sevens then just about anyone

Looks like a custom job to me. I'd say that it's most likely a six-string that has been customized with an extra tuner, new nut, and one more Kahler bridge piece. Rather tight string spacing, isn't it?

most definitely that is not a conklin of any kind.

Yup, not a Conklin. The body kinda looks thick for a Warmoth, but that's just eyeballing it.

I'm pretty sure that's an old Warmoth "Wide 5" neck and body drilled for 7 strings. You could take the neck off an look for the Warmoth logo on the neck heel to be sure. In fact, I think I remember that bass being put together by a shop that was next door to/affiliated with Bass Central many years ago, though I don't remember what it was called now.

I've seen it, back when I lived in Orlando.

They are not officially affiliated with Bass Central, but have done work for them in the past. As I am no longer at BC, I can't comment on whether they still do work for BC. They're not next door, but are within a 10 minute drive from BC.

Conklin says no, it's not their bass.

I bought it from Gruhn Guitars in Nashville for $1000. They did not have info on it other than the year. It feels more expensive, but worn.. as in 'it's been around for a few years'
