I recently started playing bass full time again with a local southern rock/country band. We will be playing mostly clubs and receptions, with some outdoor festivals thoughout the year. There are 2 guitarists and a drummer in the band. Both guitarists play high end class A tube amps (Matchless and 65 Amps rigs). I recently purchased an 800 watt Bergy HT322 that I love, but I'm playing through a Peavey TMaxx head that's 350 watts into 4 ohms. It aint enough power. From what I'm reading, here and elsewhere, these cabs need 500 watts plus. I have also read that about 500 watts or more is what most guys prefer to play out with. I have narrowed my list of potential candidates down to 3, based on what my local shop carries, my budget, and what I've read here and elsewhere. Scenario 1 and 2 involve the Bergy and either a M6 or M9 Carbine head. The question is, "will the M6 be plenty ($999,and my has one in stock), or should I spend the extra $200 bucks to get the extra 300 watts and wait and order the M9? Scenario 2 is the easiest and cheapest. Sell off the Bergy (which I really don't wnat to do, but may) and just buy the M6 combo (which my guy also has in stock). I really appreciate all of your input. Thanks in advance.
