Nice tone, great playing, but after suffering through 50 versions of it on American Idol the other day, I'll be fine if I never hear that song again in my life. For all the attitude implied in the title, it would sound perfectly natural with Olivia Newton John singing it.

Sounds good. You could maybe use a little bottom, but I like it. It sounds great. Nice playing.

That's the opposite way I would approach that. The lows sit well in the mix, the highs are very modern in your face jump out. Those need to come down.

Always reaching to crank your bass knob adds mud to your sound, especially if you are using the neck pickup. Its almost best to drop the lowest lows, and work on your mid-lows from 100hz to 250hz and get those to sit right with your highs before you add back the content under 100hz. He did a good job of the under 100hz stuff, but needs more from 100-250hz, and way much less above 400hz like a tone knob twist. If anything you could fix this with changing the way you play/attack the bass as well.

I am 100% convinced this song was done with flat wounds and a P-Bass at that part FWIW.
