Please suggest an OD pedal....

My favorite still is and most likely will always be the Zvex Distortron.
It's meant to sound like a cranked Marshall but it's got a 3 way sub selector that still preserves low end really well, and two gain stages (lo and hi). It's had the most flavor and presence of any other pedal I've tried after it (which is fairly extensive, as my buddy works at a guitar shop and is always bringing back new pedals to try out when the store gets them in).

Also as a word of advice, I would stay away from the TS9B, personally. I got one for $20 and don't think it was even worth that.

Great suggestions!!
Thank you

I love the xotic line of pedals. May try the BB.... The Joyo UD is i teresting too, as I like the OCD alot for guitar.
The Digitech CM2 ....
All I my needs reauire is clean, alittle hair on the clean up to a nice smooth growl.

Going toook for some dirt today!!

Keep the suggestions coming. I love to try pedals and read about them
Thanks again.

Played around with and was very surprised with the Seymour Duncan Lava Box yesterday. Has a wide range of Rat/muff-like tones from mild to heavy grit. Acts as a pre-amp if necessary and at "Rumble" settings of 4 or higher it boosts bass level (significantly at 6, but gets muddy when pushed). These are running $30-60 and provide (IMO) a huge value at that level.

If you like OD vs. Distortion, get something with a blend - Hartke XVL, Voodoo Lab Sparkledrive or the Way Huge Pork Loin, which offers interesting tweakability: it has knobs on the inside that set the knobs on the outside! Great fun and rabbit hole-ness, which I find irresistable, maddening and ultimately rewarding. SFT can fun, too, it's pretty sensitive to attack but it can really take over at times - which doesn't matter if you like how it takes over! Plenty of youtube demos of most of these, so have fun and drive yourself nuts. Some fellow did a shootout with lots of soundclips a while back in the effects forum that you should search for.

The Fulltone Bass Drive is my always on pedal. I currently have it stacked with a JHS Low Drive. The Bass Drive is one that very seldom leaves my board. I currently use or have tried OD/Distortion/Fuzz: Fulltone Bass Drive, JHS Low Drive, Fairfield Circuitry Barbershop, Pork Loin, Xotic AC+, Boss ODB, Sparkle Drive, SFT, VT Bass DLX, Sans Amp BDDI, MXR Bass Fuzz DLX. And I still come back to the Bass Drive. I am interested in the Vintage Microtubes, though. Anyone have one they would trade for a VT DLX?

not a big fan of the TS9 at all

If you like the Tube Screamer vibe check out the Vodoo Lab Sparkle drive (designed for guitar but has a clean blend...works well for bass)

that said

Catalinbread SFT (I love this one)
Black Sheep effects Outlaw OD
Pigtronix Bass Fat Drive
Joyo Ultimate OD (sounds great and is cheap)
Fulltone OCD
MXR M-89 Bass Overdrive
Hao Rust Ride
EBS Multidrive
Darkglass Microtubes B3k (Gets a lot of love around here)
Amptweaker Tight Drive
Digitech Bad Monkey
Boss ODB-3

all good places to start

I second all of these, they are ALL very good OD's depending on what flavor you're looking for. Also, are you running any kind of a preamp or just straight into your amp? And what kind of amp?

Fulltone OCD. I don't have a lot to say about it, simply becayse once you hear it, it speaks for itself. :)

Huge +1 here!!

You do lose a little low end without some kind of blending, but as angel stated, it has a voice all it's own. I've tried a lot of dirt pedals, but the OCD always finds it's way back on my board. I just haven't found any other pedal with the tastiness of the OCD. Killer raunch. It stacks really well with other dirts too which is a big plus for me.

Very happy with my Myco Three. I've tried the MP Blueberry, JHS Morning Glory (with and without bass mods), Boss ODB-3, a bunch of guitar ODs, a few preamps/DIs, and I like the Three the most and ditched the rest. It's not cheap but it's great.

I'm really happy with my new Way Huge Pork Loin. Sounds amazing in the mix. Couldn't be happier and is becoming an always on pedal. For grindier OD I use a Joyo Ultimate Drive and also a Boss ODB-3. Combined they're awesome. I leave the ODB on my board because it pairs really well with my MXR Octave pedal.
