Please suggest an OD pedal....

I'm really happy with my new Way Huge Pork Loin. Sounds amazing in the mix. Couldn't be happier and is becoming an always on pedal. For grindier OD I use a Joyo Ultimate Drive and also a Boss ODB-3. Combined they're awesome. I leave the ODB on my board because it pairs really well with my MXR Octave pedal.

This is indeed what I do. I stack my OCD on top of my ODB3, well the ODB3 runs before my OCD anyway, and it's magic to me. The ODB3 also helps give the OCD the bottom it lacks in at times. Great combo. And to take it a step further, those running through my B7K= pure buttery/grindy/smooth awesomeness!

I go for compact pedals where I can.

I've not tried as many as some on this thread, but my favourite OD on bass is the SFX Micro Red Dragon. It only does low to mid overdrive, but in its range it's warm, smooth and doesn't suffer from lost bottom end.

I also like the new Xotic SL Drive - it has internal switches so it will emulate the Marshall Super Bass amp rather than the Super Lead. Never used a real Marshall to compare it to mind! But I like the sound - and it works ok on bass.

I've tried heaps and never been really happy. After reading all the love for Dark Glass on here I tried one. Awesome, bought it and never been happier.
You can dial up any sort of distortion overdrive I need, from barely there, to full on and you still keep the sound of your bass. You don't lose any bottom end at all. And as I have the B7K, I have a 4 band eq with lows, highs, low mids & high mids.
They are pricey, but I think well worth it. I'd suggest you at least give one a try to either rule it out or love it

My current fave is the Brimstone Audio XD-1, but it is not simple or compact.

For those two qualities I'd recommend the Fulltone OCD too (or the Joyo clone), or the MXR Super Badass, which is an unsung cool pedal on bass.

But a recommend on tone alone see my line one. ;)

Fortunately you have a ton of great choices to fit all needs these days. Finding a good sounding overdrive that's simple, compact and affordable has never been easier.
