Please tell me this is not a TB'er

It's not fake. It's a Fender Jazz Bass 24 5-string in matte black. The matte black was introduced as an option towards the end of their run in late '08 to complement the existing cherry sunburst finish. They were made somewhere in the Far East, and had quite nice Seymour Duncan electronics and pickups. I had one for a while. Good bass, but not $1800 good. I paid $600 for mine.

EDIT: Added a pic of me gigging with one.

Oh it's real (maybe)...

I love the look of those Fender Jazz 24 V in black. I'd sport one!

But I don't care what upgrades it has, it's not even CLOSE to $1800 worth.
I love these listings, though. They make me laugh :p

It's a legitimate model. Out of production now, if my memory serves me. But while they were in production they were a pretty decent deal - I considered getting one of the four strings myself.

I think the problem that Fender runs into when they try to do some of these more fancy, embellished models is that as they stray from the standard Fender mould, even just a bit (24 frets, slightly different body shapes, etc.), it narrows the potential market of an already somewhat niche product. It's a shame, but that's why other companies exist.

I have the cherry sunburst model. It's actually a great bass, but not $1,800, I paid $530 for a new one. But I'm wondering what that thing is between the two pickups, I haven't seen that before.

O, and that's not the original bridge, he replaced it with a Badass one.

Adding to that, the switch looks different, and normally only one potentiometer is doubled or whatever it's called, and not either of those two. It would be the one on the right in the picture of the bridge. The whole preamp is different, it's normally 9v and I don't know what brand, but I doubt Aguilar

caveat emptor

i saw an ad a while back for a EBMM SUB 4 string for 1900 dollars.

i showed the ad to a non musician friend and said something like " what an idiot, that is way more than the bass cost new and this is used, i guess the guy doesn't want to sell it "

and my friend reminded me that if the guy gets someone to bite then he is way ahead - and if he doesn't then nothing lost

it is unethical to prey upon people who don't have a clue, and we all start out that way, more or less, but it is not illegal and there will always be some scumbag who will try

The cost of the bass and all of the upgrades is so far from $1800 AT FULL RETAIL PRICE! FOR EVERYTHING!

I put in a bid of $12.00 ... hope I win it! :hyper:

UPDATE: I was declined:crying:
I was then accused of sniffing meth.
I proceeded to turn that accusation back at the seller, who is trying to sell a $530 bass for $1,800.

The fours went for $299 at MF when they were discontinued. Just Cor-Tek contract stuff, nothing special, cheap Korean Fenders.

Someone should inform this meatstick that "mint" doesn't mean "modded" to death.

Astounding asking price, I must say.
