no, it will work fine, I just bought the Pocket POD, which is a smaller POD 2.0, I made some presets with the Zyzex Programm and it sounds perfect with my basses (needed something to practice on tour) go for it!
I used to use my POD 2.0 for direct recording to the sound card. Put the amp selector knob on "Tube Pre-amp". That setting works great for vocals too.
The newest pods only come in one flavor that handles both guitar and bass (and vocals too). I have a lot of fun rolling through the high-gain guitar presets with my bass, nothing fatter than a power chord from a bass.
The newest versions, Pod X3 and X3 Live are awesome for bass because you can run two completely different rigs at once which is great for distortion/fuzz/etc. IE run a fat clean rig along your fuxxed up space fuzz preset.
