I used to play this in the arcade around 20+ years ago. I got the Namco version you can plug right into your TV.

I don't remeber how to get around turn 4 (you know the one). It's a sharp left turn. What do you guys do to make it around that turn quickly?
I've shifted to low and took my finger off the gas.
I've released the gas before the turn to slow down, but the other cars go faster and hit me from behind.
I've hugged the inside of the turn and drove over the red and white border to slow me down.
Is there a trick or something that I'm not trying?
