I've got one of the SBMM SUB basses, which I guess is Fender-related. The Chinese Precision copy I have somewhere might fit that bill too.

My main player lately has been a Peavey, which as far as I know is entirely unrelated to FMIC and its "child" companies

I own a Squier bass. I know, it's overseen by Fender, but a Squier is not a Fender.

There is no Squier company. It's just a product line. What company makes you bass?

When I first started playing, I played a Hondo Fame and then an Ibanez something and some weird no-name as main players, but after those phases my main players have always been Fenders or Stingrays, so always a Leo tie. Currently have a MIA precision, a Mexi fretless jazz and a stingray.

I have 3 basses: 1 non-Fender, 1 am P bass and 1 squier jazz bass.

My squier Jazz beats my american P and other bass by a landslide. I love it.

I went 30 years of playing and thinking that I didn't like Fenders. Then wound up with a jazz through a series of fortunately unfortunate incidents, and just added a precision. They are my two main axes now. I like other basses also, and am not concerned about brand name or anything as material as that. But right now, I just am really feelin' these two basses.

I'm in this boat. Tried lots of different basses and never owned a Fender, but now I am now at the point where I think a P and a Jazz cover 100% of my needs, and each one does that specific thing that it does really well. Got the Jazz already, probably will add the P once I finish offloading a bit more stuff.

I was Fenderless till a month ago when I got my first Fender, a MIJ '62 reissue fretless jazz bass

Nothing against them, but I own none at the moment. I have only owned one, an import Urge, and that for a short time. It was OK, but I had the chance to make a decent profit and sold it. No Rics or Gibsons ATM either, unless you count a Musicyo era Steinberger.

Depends on the bands/gigs/scene. For all of the current bands I play with, lack of a Fender meant nothing. And for pretty much any band I'm interested in working with, same story.

That said I do have a "classic" looking instrument on order, but to satisfy my desires rather than a band leader. And it still won't say Fender on it

That's fine. You are more established in your scene than some others of us. If you suddenly had to relocate to a different scene, you may or may not see things differently. As you say, it depends on the gig. We all have different situations.

I have a couple as well as a Squier VM '70's and a Chinese clone. The ergo's on most other basses feel weird to me. It would be interesting if the scope was broadened to include all the Fender knockoffs and clones, whether $100 or $10,000.

That being said, my BB425X could handle all my needs easily, but what fun is that?

I also don't make rent from playing. If I did, I've have a P-bass in the house to please the pita bandleaders who insist on "the look".

Luckily the Fodera Standard P will probably fool enough of them from a distance. So I'll have my boutique and eat it too

3 basses, 3 Fenders. I've tried to like non-Fenders more than Fenders and I just don't no matter how hard I try, although I wouldn't mind owning an Alembic and/or Carl Thompson some day...

I've been playing for 50 years, had a P bass from 1971 to 1995, stupidly sold it, had the occasional Fender over the next 20 years and now own a Jazz and two P basses, one a Tony Franklin fretless along with two Rics and a Gibson EB-3. An American Hotrod P with Labella flats through a vintage SVT gets most of my gig time and people love it, I had a non musician member of the audience (although associated with a musician) come up to me last week and say that she loved my bass sound, that it sounded exactly like a bass is supposed to sound, haha! I bought the American Hotrod Fender P a few years ago and it is like getting to know a long lost friend.
Incidentally the new Fenders are the best Fender basses I have ever played including the occasional pre-CBS Fender although of course I want them!
They have REALLY got their excrement together.

I own four Fenders (and no other basses). Though, recently, I've been feeling less like a Fender-person and more like an Ibanez or ESP-person, despite owning none and having never played one of those basses before either. It's tragic.
