No Fenders here....but my Guild Pilot has just one nice 80's EMG P pickup, so it pays plenty of tribute to Leo.
My Peavey Fury has just one nice EMG GZR P pickup, so it pays plenty of tribute to Leo.
One Peavey has a Dimarzio Model P & J pickup, so it pays plenty of tribute to Leo.
The other two Peavey's here have nothing Fender-ish under the hood.
But I would take a good Fender American made Precision in a minute, ....they sound great. :thumbsup:

Indeed. On all of my Squiers it says both "Designed'' and "Backed" by Fender, and as I'm fond of saying, if I buy a new Squier, it's Fender that gets the profits. Squiers are not made by Squier (a company separate from Fender, which as you said, does not exist), they're made by Fender, therefore they ARE Fenders.

I own two basses--an EB 3 copy (So Gibson related) & an SR500F--so no Fender basses or Fender related basses
I did consider fretless J-Basses when I was looking for a fretless--and a MIM fretless J Bass idd lead the candidates a one time until I found the SR500F.
Maybe in the future I will own one.

Ampwise I am not Fender free (Rumble 40 & G-Dec Jr)
Guitarwise I am not Fender free (Mustang)

I currently own eight American Fenders, two Rickenbackers, and an EBMM Stingray.

The Fenders are:

1972 Telecaster bass

2000 American Standard Jazz

2011 American 60th Anniversary Precision (Blonde)

2011 American 60th Anniversary Precision (FRS Sunburst)

2012 American Select Precision

2014 American Honeyburst Special Precision

2014 American Standard Jaguar bass fitted with a 2012 American Select Precision neck

2014 American Deluxe Dimension HH V

I've had other Fenders, these are the ones that earned their right to stay in the rotation. And no, I don't need four P-basses, but all four of them get played a lot.

To me Fenders are easy. Fenders (Precisions and Jazz basses in particular) give you easily recognizable, repeatable sounds that work. They are well made and reasonably priced for what they are.

I'm not saying that everyone needs to own one, play whatever makes YOU smile. Myself, I can't imagine why I wouldn't play Fenders. They do what I need them to.
