As I was responding to a different thread a question popped up in my mind about the use of metronomes when practicing, and how their use... or non-use... is coupled with "convenience" or lack thereof- and thought it would be fun to check in with everyone with a poll. Please note that you can check multiple boxes in this poll.

I'm most curious if there is a correlation between the type of metronome and the frequency of use.

Thanks in advance for participating.

I have a couple of physical metronomes and a bunch of apps on phone/tablet. My really nice old wooden metronome is still at my ex's place :( I really want it back. But I use a little plastic one. The apps I mainly use at rehearsals to make sure we know tempos for individual songs.

I use either a physical metronome, a metronome app, or the metronome you get when you type "metronome" into google when I'm practicing a particular technique, but rarely for making/learning music.

I also always warm up with a metronome because I play with three-finger plucking technique - it's very easy to lose the "four" feel or let some swing/gallop get into what should be a straight beat because normal fingers aren't all the same length.

I use a metronome regularly. Its for the meter training. Obviously it's way different than playing with a band but it's a good way to keep me focused and not noodling aimlessly. Here's a snippet of me playing a bass line for a band I play with.

my pedals have them built in. Tuners also built in. so I voted for the

Zoom GFX 707 (archaic multi) 30 tracks or so
ZoomB1Xon (newer Bass specific cousin) I want to say 60 tracks, but it has 30 sec looper: means I can play my own ghost, slap, muted, etc all... beats and such and loop some grooves over them.

I dont use it every day, but I use it frequently.. now that I see this I will probably use it more. as mentioned above it certainly helps if you are using 3-4 fingers for plucking.

of the choices the best one that 'fits' is the rarely use one, but only because I used to use it pert-near daily once apon a time. but I voted on the ELECTRONIC choice.
Once I got my chops down to legitimacy I used it as reference for odd meter, or when speed was the name of the game.
