Back around 1988 (?) I worked on a project that needed 5 string.
Since then, there's been a slow migration away from 4 string to the point where I very, very seldom play a 4 anymore.
I'm not "a pdeal tone player," I just like the extra fingering options and everything else that comes with being able to play the same lines several different places.
