I bought a Thunderfunk 550 with the switch and gold chip and have been playing it for a couple of months and love it for slapping on my jazz, but I haven't had as much luck dialing in a tone I like for my P Bass - not a problem with the amp, but rather my ability to properly tune in a parametric EQ.

Anyhow, I've played Ampegs in the past and generally like them and think I might want something in that vein again, but I found the SVT3 Pro I had not quite clean enough but loved the tube warmth that it had, and also liked the EQ. Does Ampeg make a clean(er) sounding tube amp (or hybrid), or does anyone else have a suggestions for an amp to try? I live three hours away from the nearest decent bass shop so I prefer to head out knowing what I want to try out.

For reference I mostly play blues and dabble in funk nd have a HH Stingray, as well as fender P and J basses and am running through an Ampeg 410 HLF cab.
