Anybody heard of him?

I recently (like 20 minutes ago) discovered him from my AOL radio player and I went and downloaded all that I could from Grooveshark before I decided I had too much to edit. I'll get more tomorrow.

One in particular that is really righteous and full of tone and life is "Hey Joe" live.

This guy's good! And so's his bass player. I found this cut to be from about 2007, so he's been around for a while and I've been under a rock somewhere.

Now ya got me all interested. I could swear that I remember Hey Joe a lot earlier than The Leaves, not counting Hendrix.

"Hey Joe" is an American popular song from the 1960s that has become a rock standard and as such, has been performed in a multitude of musical styles by hundreds of different artists since it was first written.[1][2][3] "Hey Joe" tells the story of a man who is on the run and planning to head to Mexico after shooting his wife.[4] However, diverse credits and claims have led to confusion as to the song's true authorship and genesis.[3][4] The earliest known commercial recording of the song is the late 1965 single by the Los Angeles garage band, The Leaves,[5] who also had the first hit version of the song with a re-recording in 1966. So - and I liked The Leaves version as it was the most significant - I am still out to lunch on the original version I heard. It was a very slow ballad I believe.

I saw this guy - LINK - perform it less than 10 feet away from me in Hawaii at the top of Diamond Head.

And YES - that's a Fender Jazz bass being played with a pick!~

That gets me too - love it! I know it's not authentic, but it works for me and really fills out the total sound of the band by filling in what one might perceive as 'holes' in the harmony.

It just makes it fatter.

Is this what you're saying? I think this is accurate.
