Popular Bands You Just Found Out About

Every once in a while, I stumble upon a popular band that I did not know about. Here is one I heard about yesterday. Needtobreathe has been around since 1999 and their first album was in 2006. They have had a lot of hit songs that I never heard before.

NEEDTOBREATHE - "Wasteland"

NEEDTOBREATHE - Drive All Night

What well known acts have any of you recently heard?

My wife put me on to Needtobreathe, I like them a lot - but I don't think I'd put them in the category of "very popular." They do OK, mostly on the Christian/crossover circuit, from what I've seen they play to 2000-seater venues. I saw them in Portland, Maine, good show. Good southern rock stuff, definitely.

I guess this band is moving into the bigger leagues now. I just found out Needtobreathe is one of the headlining bands for the Creation Festival in June in front of over 100,000 people. Nice gig to get. Switchfoot is playing right before them.

I first heard My Morning Jacket when they released Evil Urges. Told a friend about this new band I liked and he said, "If you like that, you should try one of the other albums they've released. Or maybe the live album. Or one of the Austin City Limits shows." Talk about out of touch. That's when I decided I needed to pay more attention to what's new in music.

from what I've read they seem like horrible people that you wouldn't want to be around, but damn if they don't make some catchy music.

It blew my mind when I saw they have 1.2 million facebook likes.

Nope, they are great people. Been around for a while too. Probably the most innovative act in hip hop at this moment. You got to see them live to get the real deal!

this band called "Dissection" like, melodic death/black metal and they were really popular back in their day but i never heard of em which is odd considering how often im at record stores tearing through the "Death Metal" section
