Portland, OR Music Scene?

Pardon me if this isn't the right place, but I thought it might be.

I'm moving to Portland from Los Angeles at the beginning of July.

I haven't played with live musicians consistently since I moved to LA 3.5 years ago, partly due to pandemic restrictions and partly due to the fact that it's just been difficult for me to find the right fit.

What's the music scene like in Portland? Especially for someone like myself who's not trying to jump right into a gigging situation.
How do folks tend to meet other musicians? LA feels like somewhere you have to know someone, and all of those someone's are shallow, narrow stereotypes.
Are rehearsal spaces atrocious, unsafe, overpriced dumps?
What are the best venues for seeing live bands? Not interested in country or jam bands.
What are the best music stores?

I don't live in Portland but talked to a band that came up to Seattle to play with us. They play soulful, modern rock and the BL told me that the rock scene is pretty dead. Cover bands are getting shows, but as far as original rock, there's a club called Dante's and that's about it. He said the Seattle scene is way better and even though they have no draw here, he will come play Seattle whenever he can.

As far as your other questions, I have no idea. Last time I was in PDX was Summer of 2019 and I distinctly remember a nude man walking down the street for reasons unknown.

I don't know what the current scene is like, but Portland still seems to have a lot of bands.
