Pose boxes/stands

I've noticed the trend of bands using these over the past couple of years. I've used them a little bit in the past, particularly when opening and the other band has them set up. While they can be overused, they really can add a very cool visual during certain parts of a show, such as the guitarist firing off a solo. This past weekend, we set up two black boxes that my guitarist actually built as storage boxes for misc. cables and mics when we run our own PA. I really dug using them. Our singer's currently building a box that will have a clear top and a light that will shine up from inside when he stands on it. A few years ago, one of my friends, who has a BFA and is very artistically inclined, built boxes for his band that had their logo cutout and plexiglass installed with orange lighting inside - created a very cool visual on stage. Of course, these boxes seem to work better on bigger stages. Microphone stands, monitors, and pedalboards take up precious front-stage real estate.

Anyone else use pose stands or boxes?

Perhaps if we use his name in this post Liam Wilson's ears will start burning and he can swoop in and tell us about the ones the Dillinger Escape Plan uses. I'm pretty sure those even have strobe lights in them too, but I can't recall if they were reactive to their playing.
