going to look at a MIM fender jazz fretless tomorrow, $300..... I’ve never owned a fretless, dabbled on a few.... I’m not sure to feel nervous or excited

Jump in with both feet! I bought one a year ago (Squier VM Fretless Jazz) and I’m loving it. I’ve got D’Addario Tapes on it and it sounds and feels great.

That's about the right price so you have nothing to lose you can always resell it if you don't like it.

I own a MIM Jazz fretless, flats, lined rosewood board, sunburst finish. It's killer, high QC. Bought it for a Bad Company tribute and bonded with it almost immediately. I won't outgrow this bass for a long time. Good luck.

I walked away from a white one a few years ago, went back the next day and it was gone. Always regretted that. But now I have two others, soon to be three.

Fretless is a whole ‘nother world. There’s much that can only be done on a fretless such as sliding into and out of notes, sliding harmonics and more. I’d bet it’s all on YT.
