Some think it's ugly. Some think it's snazzy.
Shame that I just hate playing 4-strings any more. Just prefer 5-strings.

Being a designer, I wanted something unique, kind of stylish, but with an old feel like it's been around the block with scars to show for it. Not necessarily a true relic, but more of 'a bass that had been played hard and sold to a pawn shop then picked up by someone who gave it a new lease on life'.

Probably going to sell it off as a whole, or part it out. Quarter Pounder pickup, Schaller bridge, John East chrome knob 2-band PreAmp (photos are before preamp install).

I love it, what sort of price would it go for? How does it sound? I can't even tell what brand it is from here, what is it?

For serious. Its pretty cool IMO.

here's my character bass, started out as a really nice Silvertone till i snapped the neck swinging it around my shoulders after hitting it into the speaker cab. found a neck that fit in the existing screw holes, and shimmed it up with a couple metal nuts on the side to make it playable, added the 6 string pickups so I could stop the 60hz hum, and used it for almost a year before I could afford something better.

That was many years ago, but I still have it around to jam on and "remember" the "wildchild" days....

But the only way to do that is to strip the clear coat that I paid $170 for from Warmoth. But then I run the risk of the Florida humidity wrecking my bass. Worth it?

just put sanding sealer on there....

what you want is a THIN MATTE clear coat, and you're good!
