I totally agree with your miles davis album - truly terrific.

Although the one I've jammed to most recently are;

John Butler Trio - Sunrise Over Sea - Amazing, truly is. I listen to this atleast 3 times a week and my band have done our own variation of 'Zebra'. If you've not heard of them (which most people haven't) I suggest you listen. Most of their stuff is on double bass although I translate it onto Electric Bass and still sounds so beautiful.

Jet - Get Born - This album isn't very good on the technical scale but just having catchy bass lines and free flowing music just impresses me.

Yes! That Pat Martino album is fantastic. I saw that same lineup in Boston a year or so later. I also saw that bassist (Tyrone Brown) with Max Roach about 10 years ago; he was playing upright, and I preferred his Fender sound (with Martino)-- it was actually fatter! Anyway, he rhythm section of Brown on bass and Sherman Ferguson on drums swung like crazy, and Martino was wonderful on guitar, of course.

Another interesting recording from around the same time is the live one with Richard Davis on bass (he's the leader), Roland Hanna (or Don Pullen?) on piano, Clifford Jordan (I think) on tenor sax, Hannibal Peterson on trumpet and Freddie Waits on drums. It consists of only two tunes: Monk's "Epistrophy" and Charlie Parker's "Now's the Time." It's "post bop" jazz that veers back and forth into "free" territory, with Davis masterfully steering the boat. Extremely impressive stuff.

Another vote for Junta by Phish- that album brings me back to high school, and is magic for me.

Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers- Ugetsu
I don't listen to as much jazz as some other guys on here, but this is my favorite.

John Coltrane- A Love Supreme
probably my 2nd favorite. Again, I don't know enough about jazz to know why, but this stuff just moves me.

good album. disappointed by his next album. Saw them live 3 times. I really like the guitar solo Ocean.
