I'm still not sold on getting an actual pedal board, but at least for now I'm settled on which effects are my favorite (see below), and which are just leftovers (scattered about ze the apartment) for when I feel like dicking around.
Once I start gigging again I'll probably get a board though. Of course, I said that last time I was in a band and it didn't happen.

How's that psilocybe? I always wanted a real phaser, but dont trust the volume drop issues the EHX's have

Try out the EHX Nano Small Stone. There is no volume drop (I've owned both the original, which had a volume drop, and this reissue, which is flawless)... heck, it seems to do a bit of boosting!
I've got an MXR Phase 90 that works pretty well I think, though I've never had a Small Stone to compare it to.

get a pedaltrain, they look silly in that camera style box, you will look like you are carrying a bomb around with you and end up in a detention camp
I really dig it, and don't have a volume drop. I guess some people do with this one though, excane said he did at least. Anyhow it's pretty subtle when by itself, but gets WILD when you add some distortion up front. The Shift 1 switch is really cool for bass because it helps retain a lot of low end frequencies even while sweeping the upper end of the phasing. Sample:Siggy_Bass said:How's that psilocybe? So, here's the finished (for a while) version.
Not sure on the order yet... I'm looking into a power supply, so I can't experiment too much, but for starters was thinking about
bass > mammoth > eq > pog > muff'n > moogerfooger > choralflange > cs-3 (got that humphry mod)
The reasoning is mammoth likes being first, i like some grit after an octave (although I haven't tried this out, and it works pretty good with the mammoth in front). Thoughts are more than appreciated though...
I'll probably get expression pedal for the moog and eventually a delay, but no hurry as theres a tonne of stuff to play with on there. Also, a bypass switch for the moog would be cool as it plays bad music. Seriously, the radio channelsit picks up are almost always linkin park or billy talent/etc. And the muff'n may be looking for a good home, I've not decided if it's worth the strange power supply even though it sounds beautiful.

Nothing here over $140. Booteeks are out of my price range and Dano Fabs look like they would break. Homemade board (obviously), but this setup does what it does and I like the sounds that I'm getting out of it.

i've always wondered how that thing sounds with a bass...
On a homemade, bi-level board, the signal chain is as follows: Volume pedal > Planet Waves Tuner > Fulltone Bass Drive > EH LBM > Rocktron Short Timer > Ibanez Chorus > MXR Phase 90 > EH LPB1 > DOD EQ > Akai Head Rush.
It works surprising well IMO. It doesn't introduce any unwanted treble and keeps the low end. I like to use it with the two chorus pedals.jetpackbassist said:

Never had a volume drop on either one.
The MXR is more wooshy, while the Small Stone has a more subtle sound to it.
I do find that I can use the MXR by itself, as the effect is more prevalent, however I need to have something else (overdrive or fuzz) into the Small Stone to really make it noticeable.
