I'm reposting because there were no comments and I *need* self-affirmation. ;)

The X-Blender rocks! It was my last effect that I've purchased and it really should have been third or fourth. Some of the effects that I've sold might still be around if I could have blended them to add some more bottom to them.

That is an awesome board. I'm on the fence with the Barge vs. Xotic though...

Snyder, do you use the Fat Boost as a straight overdrive, or do you use that for added "tube" texture along with the VT?

I think I just found the perfect place for the VT today, and I'm probably going to use the Fat Boost in its place as the "thickener."

I note that you also have the Submarine in a fairly neutral position. How do you use it?

That is a pretty sick board, by the way. :)

The Fat Boost is a fairly recent purchase and I'm still playing with that. Sometimes I use it mainly as a boost and others I'll use it for some tube texture. With the Submarine, the FatBoost and the VT, it gets very, very warm and gooey. I've even played around with boosting the bass and treble on the FatBoost and using for a "slap pedal".

the Submarine is always on. I kinda use it as a master tone knob for the pedal board. Slap goes to 2 o'clock and fingerstyle maybe down to 10 o'clock to kill fret noise a little.

I really like running the VT into the Bass EQ as set. It gives a erally old school woofy sound. I'm using a Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 and an Acme B-2.

Turn everything on (besides the tuner) and it's the tone from hell.

Honestly, if you can't find the perfect blend pedal in the Barge lineup, you obviously need to e-mail them your ideas ;)

Seriously tho, how many different "stock" blends does Barge offer now?

and I know one guy on here (tayste?) got the impedance control from the GLZ installed on a VFB-2, instead of the feedback control.

Your board is very cool. I like the PT1 setup as the hard case is not as bulky as the newer Pedaltrain hard cases.

I'm glad to see another Fatboost user. I really like mine and have been using it as a mild overdrive. It also works beautifully as a clean boost or a tone shaper. Very versatile and simple pedal that oozes quality.

Ok, I thought I was done. Wrong. The MXR Phaser doesn't work well with the X-Blender. The phase is off, so if I set the phase switch so it works with the Phaser, then the Chorus sounds weak. So now it's time to find a Phaser that will work well. Just in time for the weekend!

Check out my review of the Retro Sonic Phaser. I just bought mine 2 days ago to replace the Phase90 and it is a fantastic phaser. Takes up no more room then the Phase90 but has tons of headroom, no clipping, is true bypass and doesn't have the volume or mid spike of the Phase90.

I was thinking that the Retro Sonic might be too subtle at first as my ears were so used to the volume spike and slight distortion of the Phase90 but I soon realized how much nicer the phase tone is and how much more usable it is on bass.

I can't turn it off now!

There are a few of us that got that mod, though Tayste might have been the first TBer. My custom Barge (in a larger than normal enclosure) had two blend loops in series, one of which had the GLZ control. I traded it a while back as it was overkill for my (then) downsized board and got a VB-jr.

But the last time I talked to them Barge wasn't taking any custom orders. I don't know if that was a permanent decision or just because they were so busy at the time.

That said, the Barge stuff is excellent, but the Xotic is still the Cadillac of blend pedals.

And i hope my Agent 00funk will be back already (Was fixed month and a half ago, Chunk systems sent me and the item dissapeared somewhere \: )

Really really love it
The Deep switch is awesome, The fuzz itself is warm and sounds good

I definitely recommend it, I heard some fuzzes and didn't like them, Were too bright
This one, Is the s**t.

Not saying I can say from experience, but many people on here disagree with that. I havent heard anything but negative about the El Grande.

But thats just what I have heard. I have never tried it, so dont hold that fact against me.

no reason to question him if you haven't tried the El G yourself... especially since you're not really into fuzz :p

I think the El grande is probably pretty good for a modern, very heavy rock vibe (think nu metal/post-metal/whatever-core). It is VERY high gain, with unity around 9 o'clock (see ed friendland's demo), VERY pronounced mid scoop and powerful depth control. it can sound muddy, which is why they have an internal frequency switch for the deep control.

Basically what I'm saying is that it didn't fit my more vintage-to-modern funk and psychedelic rock uses, so I flipped mine.

A similarly aggressive/biting rock fuzz that is way lower gain and has a character I like a lot more is the Mojo Hand Huckleberry V2... eventually I'll get some clips up

where do you live? is the OOfunk being held by customs?

I approached Barge about a month ago regarding my stereo-loop-inverter (which I have let go for the time being) and Geoff got right back to me with questions and ideas, so I would think that their custom shop is taking orders again.

with the juice knob it makes a pretty darn good distortion box too

my only issue with it is that it can get spitty if you don't have your bass output maxed. But that's the fuzz face circuit for ya!

what REALLY works for me about it is the fact that it has a very reasonable output level - this makes it agreeable for use with a tube amp
