I don't hear at all that Noonan's snake has the run of the house (which would be dumb on a number of counts, with or without baby - you lose the snake very fast).
A snake in a locked cage/enclosure is no more danger to a baby than a knife in a locked drawer. In fact that's a pretty good analogy. If you leave sharps lying around within reach of your infant you're asking for trouble. Locked away - not a problem at all.
Eviently you're not very knowledgeable about snakes kept as pets. That's ok. Like any other animal (dogs, perhaps?) there exists the potential for the pet to harm another creature. Of course, like any other animal (dogs, perhaps?) if the owner is knowledgeable, properly trains, cares for, and controls the animal, there will be no issues.
In reality though, snakes are about some of the most predictable pets ever. I trust the owners description of a snake's temperment much more than their description of a dog or cat's temperment. I know my snake is way more predictable than my cat, or any other dog or cat I've met.
Exactly correct. I've had multiple snakes over the years and they're generally much more predictable than a cat or a dog. Boas are known for being very laid back and calm and very rarely show aggression of any kind. They learn very quickly what food is and what it isn't. I wouldn't let a large snake run loose in the same room with a baby, but then I wouldn't let a large active dog in the same room either.
When my dog Chrissie Hound (a Greyhound/something shaggy mix posted earlier) passed last year, I didn't think I'd get another dog. I was wrong. Here's my rescued BASSet Hound Jelly with my most recently acquired basses.

Note: The pink stripes on the black Cruise bass are reflections of some warning tape I have stretched over a patch of new grass I'm trying to establish.

The dogs are Ely the Pit Bill and Kamala the Chow/Shepherd Mix
This is Buddy the Cat. He is a Maine Coon. He will come and just sit in the room with me while I practice. It is a characteristic of the breed. They are much like dogs in the way they interact with you. They just like company and want to be in same room with you. Best cat I ever had.
By popular demand I will start this thread. Perhaps it has already been started several times, but as long as there are cool basses and cats, dogs, turtles, etc. to play them, it will never get old.
Just found this one on my camera card. It's slightly out of focus but I think that gives it a cool feel.

I wish I had another Basset. Coolest dog I ever had.
