Its EB, i just bought it outta the classifieds, i guess the pots are dated 89 but the PO was told it was a 1991 model and one of the last made by people on the EB forum.

I wont have it for a week or so.

Not sure if I am going to keep mine, but if so I want to find a case for it since it has no case. Will it fit in a musicman stingray case? one of the new plastic ones?

Wow that's the first one i see modified like that - what a strange idea Finding original pre EB humbuckers may be a challenge. Would G&L 2000 pickups get you closer to orignal without having to alter the route?

I would like to get my hands on a Sabre some day. I don't know why, but they kind of appeal more to me than the other EBMM basses.

The Sabre pickguard is easy to find new on Ebay from a pickguard maker. EB might even still have some.

But those Sabre pickups are near impossible to find. Seems like only once in a few years you ever see a set turn up.

I s'pose I might be persuaded to sell you the whole bridge, but it's not the kind of thing I would entertain parting out... I think you can get the pads from EB, yeah? Not so sure about the plate... Aren't they selling them as a replacement package for the Classics?

I'd ask at your local EBMM dealer to call them up and ask. I bought a tuning machine once, through my local L&M, so you you may be able to get a plate and mutes. It might be that they only sell the foam pads, but it's worth a shot to call them. AFAIK they don't actually have a list of parts you can buy on their site.

Just found a 79 sabre at a pawn shop planned on flipping it, cause its a unlined ebony board and the thought of playing it scared me, but I played it at home and really loved it and thought I would give it a try, and boy do i love it played it last night at a worship service and today at church and have had barely any issues with the unlined board just feels natural

Anyways its all origanal in pretty good shape some rashing on the back and dings here and there but its 3 years older then me so I can't feel to bad about it not looking brand new

Just got my '79 sunburst back from rehab. Pat Wilkins gets major woo-hoo's for making it almost new. In addition to the refret, he filled a gouge along the bottom and refretted the fretboard. Here are the crappy iPhone pics (or more accurately, iPhone pics taken by crappy photographer)

Here's one before pic. This one was taken by the guy I bought it from. I'll post a few of my own before pics when I find them on my hard drive.

beautiful and rare bass. those stock ebony fretless necks are to die for. Adjusting the microtilt backward bumped the playability and mwah factor 2 notches on mine. Enjoy!

I have a fretted '91 Sabre and would dearly love a fretless version too. I believe Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer" was recorded on a fretless Sabre by Tony Levine..
