Is it just me or is the caliber of posts on TB really been tanking? I’ve been a member since 2004 and I remember when there used to be really good and useful stuff. Now a good chunk of the posts are “my package isn’t arriving” or “why do people use the words that they do”.

I understand this post in itself is apart of what I’m talking about. However, the layover portion of my flight has led me to keeping myself digging through TB for hopes of entertainment.

If you're a sports fan we have threads for several of the major men's sports, and women's sports too.
If you like whiskey, we have a thread or three for that.
Food? Do you like food? All kinds of threads for that.
Scroll past the first page or search for a particular word and see what comes up.
Since you've been around a long time, dig back in time and relive some of the classic threads.

I think a lot of information/post impacts you differently after being on a few years.

At first there is so much information to ingest, it’s almost overwhelming. Seems every post has something you didn’t know that blows you away.

Later on, after you have learned quite a bit, you start seeing a cycle of the same postings, or variances of them, and it’s less sensational. Not because it isn’t great information though.

There are wonderful posts about humor, shipping, building, equipment, etc., and after a while certain names are associated with higher quality posts than others.

I try and help answer questions when I can, and while I am no expert, there are many things I can pass on. Many I learned here.

There is still great information posted frequently, where its rare I go a day without learning something new.

Could just be a form of graduation goggles.

I think it’s a bit of what everyone else has said and the fact that the user base isn’t what it used to be.

The majority of folks you and I were posting with back in 2004 (I believe I joined a couple years later) are no longer here, and there were some genuine personalities that made the place livelier than it has been.

I greatly reduced my posting frequency a few years ago due to life getting busier. I was excited to finally return at the beginning of the year, but there simply isn’t as much draw. It’s weird, but I feel like a stranger in a forum that I’ve been a member of for over a decade when I used to feel like an actual part of a community. I think that has something to do with it. At least for me it seems to.

If "remember when" is one of the lowest forms of conversation, where does reliving "classic" internet threads fall?

People come and go. Man, we used to be more mellow. The good looking Mr. Vader used to hang here. Haven't seen as much of @slobake since retirement. Etc. Different mods moderate differently (say that five times fast). The longer you have been here, the more of the common threads you have seen.

I do think things, especially in OT, are a little tighter now. Still a fun hang.

Are you entertained yet? If not, you could try being more entertaining.

This reminds me of a conversation I had with my father when I was around 12 or 13. I was complaining about being bored because none of my friends were available to hang out. His response was, “If you’re bored when you’re alone think about how much you bore others when you’re with them.” That was the very last time I complained about being alone and bored.
