Power amp/pre amp or just "head"?

I have decided for those of you reading my last few posts that I am going to pull the trigger on a B2000 in the next 24-48 hours.

I have often thought of getting a power/pre amp set up though. Never had a split unit rig before.

after flipping through lots of the f/s amp pages here I ran across a few intruiging options.

as opposed to the much acclaimed B2000 which will be my first amp of its kind. (always owned mesa tube, ampeg tube, for the most part) Is it possible that maybe a newer crown, crest, or QSC 1500-2000 watt (@4 ohm) amp plus something like an Ampeg SVP pre amp, or a sansamp pre amp might get my blood boiling a bit more? Big throaty tone with just a touch of grind is really what I am after. Wet tone. ( i have NO time for muddy tone though)
Just after some opinions. Not getting cold feet on the B2000.:smug:

I say stay on track with the B2000. More practical, less frustration going through preamps and poweramps searching for a combination that works for you.

Impossible for us to know what you like.
I have a pre/power rig as well as a hybrid, a featherweight head, and an SVT
They are all great and can sound somewhat similar

Good news regarding B2000 is that reseale will be high due to demand and low supply

Not let me ask you; what ice cream is better: vanilla or strawberry?
