Power amp question wuth Raven-Labs pre

Discussion in 'Amps, Mics & Pickups [DB]' started by Arnold, Dec 16, 2004.

  1. I'm wondering about using my Raven-Labs blender as the preamp to a crown power amp. I have a theatre gig so this would be something I would move every few months or maybe not ever move. I'm definitely doubling on electric, so I use the Raven Labs right now thru my EBS, but last night a friend offered me a pair of Crown power amps (for free) his church is no longer using and the wheels started turning in my head. I have a spare Aguilar cab, and I'd love to have the EBS (best combo amp IMHO) at home for club dates. So, portability factors aside, has anybody tried this or have any thoughts on it? Also, both basses go direct before the Raven-Labs, so the volume generated (while it can be loud) is only for the pit. Thanks.

You should be able to use the raven labs blender as a
preamp. It should work very well. Run each bass into its
own channel, take the output from the blender into the
    power amp in. Simple!
