ok, so here's possibly a stupid question....

Is there any reason you couldn't use a standard 12vdc 5 amp power supply for video equipment, computers, etc. such as this 12 volt power supply catalog.

Or what about an inexpensive industrial power supply such as this Link Removed

Sure would be a lot cheaper than all that everyone is discussing here...

For myself, I run 4 Markbass 12V Effects and 2 9V effects...

The industrial power supplies could be a lot noisier, its really down to how much your willing to pay for the quality.

As long as it's regulated, it's generally fine (assuming of course you select the right voltage, ac/dc, range of current, and plug polarity/type).

I will say that some of the cheaper laptop power supplies that I've bought ended up being useless for pedals either because they weren't actually regulated, or they introduced loud buzzing or switching noises. The ones that turned out to not be regulated actually fried some expensive pedals!

So on the one hand, yes it can be fine, but OTOH be careful and don't assume anything. Test the output of the supply with a meter before using it on your pedals.

That's what I was thinking also... Of course, I'd be sure to match the specs as close as I can...

But considering that a GigRig that would handle my needs would cost me about $500, I have a bit of leeway on costs to play with..lol
