Double Bass Powered cab recommendation

I'm a big Bag End fan and owned the S15/S15X stack for many years. That said, $1,905 for a powered S15X seems out of bounds (to me, anyway).

If you could find a bass combo amp that allows you to bypass the preamp, that might be worth considering as another option.

I have a Headway EDB-2 that I'd like to pair with a powered cab. Any recommendations? I was looking at the Bag End PS15X-N.
This is that very cabinet. I had it customized at Bag End to work with the internal power amp and also with an external amp. It also allows you to plug an active bass directly into the the cabinet and get a decent volume level. It’s a tremendous sounding cabinet and the internal amp is silent..no hissing or humming. My experience with them is that they build to order and don’t keep too much product in stock. They do turn it around quickly though.

I would think Bag End is excellent Choice; they have been making Great 'Bass' Cabinets for decades were in my experience powered 'PA' based cabinets need excessive processing to be even remotely competitive to a Quality Bass Cab powered by external Bass Amp/Head.

It is quite expensive though...

Yes it is; but you were looking at it so price couldn't have scared you to much[no mention of 'out of budget'] :)

Remember you are getting both Amp and Cab; Also your opinion may differ from mine on PA cabs as many seem to get a sound they like from them

QSC and others are less expensive but not necessarily a better Value [especially if you Gig often and plan on keeping for a good while]

Are you guys talking about the same thing? The OP posted in the DB forum. Are you also a doublebassist or are you saying that you get a good sound with a BG? It's an important distinction.

Senior Moment missed it was DB Post; "NeverMind'

I can't think of a better choice that whichever internally powered Bag End you think would suit, with the understanding that these are wonderfully neutral systems. IF you're after some lumpy, swampy bass amp/cabinet vibe, unless you have a preamp or front end to provide that sort of tone, I can't think of a worse choice. For a sophisticated, modern tone, with the right front end, they are top shelf.

Years ago I owned and gigged with a Bag End 4x10 with coax tweeter for EB. Great cab - SUPER heavy.

Wayne Jones Powered 2X10, 1000W... I own this one and it is easily the best I've ever heard (playing for 50 yrs); genuinely full range, very, very loud; and transparent to what you feed it. Google the reviews: they are accurate!
Oh wow, that ships from Australia (about $275 to ship one to Maryland). Do you have any experience with the powered 1x10? I think that'd probably be a little more appropriate with regard to the dimensions I'm after.

I've heard good things. They're plenty loud, but they're hard to find used: the 2X10 comes up now and then on the used market. (I paid much less than retail for a mint cab). ;)
