Mesa's new Traditional PowerHouse cabs have Traditional PowerHouse speakers, and the rest of the PowerHouse line has Custom PowerHouse speakers. Anyone have any info on the Traditional speakers?....you know: specs, difference from the Custom speakers, etc.

I haven't followed their gear closely, but think the differences are only cosmetic ones. Someone here must know for sure.

I guess I'm wrong. I went to Mesa's site and saw what you're talking about. If the two other lines had neo speakers, the distinction would make sense. But I'm fairly sure they don't.

An email to Mesa support would be an idea to pursue.

    Only 12" are neo.

I guess that traditional are simply tuned more... "traditional" :) Less hi-fi and more mids...

Here is what Mesa said in an email reply:

The Standard/Vintage Powerhouse speakers have a higher sensitivity, with*greater excursion*of the cone. They have more mid-range, and are more sensitive to players touch and dynamics. The Traditional Powerhouse speakers are closer to the Ampeg style speaker, which is not as sensitive so it can take more of a pounding from the players technique, etc. They have more of a vintage EQ range - and are a very balanced speaker.

Replacement speakers can be bought online or over the phone - or through your nearest dealer.

Hmm, to me standard PH speakers - 10" and 15" - aren't really mid heavy...

I think what they ment was, they are more mid heavy than the traditional ph speakers.
