Powering MXR 87 with TRex Chamaleon

No. You'll need a power supply that can provide AC power. There are plenty out there, depending on your other power needs.
You can power the M87 with the chameleon. You can use either a 9v ac power supply or a 9v dc brick. Says so right in the owners manual.
Are we talking about the same MXR pedal?

I believe the "AC" in that spec refers to the mains power (e.g 240V AC converted to 9V DC).
The user manual says "Power Supply DC 9 volt"
There's probably also a label on the pedal, by the power jack, that says 9V next to some straight lines that symbolize DC.

Wow. I was wrong all over the place. That's what you get for trying to respond on TalkBass while wrangling toddlers in the morning.
I'm running this pedal very happily of a pedal power 2+ 9v DC center negative. The AC your referring to is in regards to the wall wart.
If it runs off a 9V battery, then it uses DC rather than AC and will absolutely work with a 9V DC power supply.

It absolutely runs on DC, and in fact ONLY on DC. The expression "AC adapter" commonly means a supply that takes AC and converts it to DC. So when the manual says to use an AC adapter, they are saying it runs on DC.
