Practical Case for Mesa Subway Amplifiers

What size of Apache or similar plastic cases are yal using to carry a Mesa B800D or WD 800?

What dimensions or series models, I'm seeing 1800, 2800, etc. Is there a small, medium, large model required to carry those Mesa amps and maybe a power cord, 1or 2 speakon cables.
I was about to order a 2U shallow rack bag or hard case. But that'll add about 10lbs to haul.

Hey, Ernie. Sorry for the late response.

I'm using the Apache 4800 case for my WD800. You can pluck out the foam for a perfect fit and still have room for an IEC power cable and (barely) 2 5ft NL4 speaker cables.

Recently realized that in some cases you can also cut out a false bottom for some nice storage 🤙

The Apache 4800 is the one I used for the WD800, TT800 and now the 800D, and a QSC TouchMix 16. Our BL uses a 3800 for his Shure IEM transmitter, receiver, mic, cables and batteries. I had a couple of smaller ones for my Bergantino Forte HP2 and Forte D. So much better than the included bags.

G'morning. A while back, I bought a few of these Apache cases at Harbor Freight thinking I would find uses for them later.

One of those cases wound up being a good choice for a Mesa Subway WD800. This amp went into semi-retirement when I bought my BD800D. But a couple pf weeks ago, we had a last-minute backline need pop up, so I sent out the WD800 paired with an old EBS Neo 410 cabinet. I had to send the amp in its Mesa carrying bag, which was kinda scary, riding in a 26' truck full of sound gear. Fortunately, the guys looked after the amp very nicely and it came back unscathed and in perfect shape.

So I decided to take one of the Apache cases and make it fit the WD800. This particular case was $40.00. The eye-catching color was the only cases available in that size.....🙄.
Here's the results.....

With the pluck-style foam options, it was crazy easy to fit the foam to the amplifier. And there's (barely) room for an IEC power cable and two NL4 cables for the speaker .cabinet.The foam for the lid needs to be secured with contact glue, easily done with the spray variety (do this part outside!......😁)

I'm sure I'm not the first person to use these cases for such a purpose, but I felt like posting the results anyway.

How dod the WD800 sound paired with this EBS cab? I wasn't at this event and I haven't heard the pair for myself, but the guys said the 4 bassists liked the rig very much and two of them were asked to turn the rig down a bit. I may carry the WD to the shop and check out the pair for myself, but I'm sure my pair of SW115 cabs have nothing to fear.....😁
Oh, it’s a great head. Very versatile. Tremendous amount of tonal flexibility. Awesome features.

Hey, thank for your post. I’m going to check out one of these cases for my WD-800.

I use the original soft case inside an Apache case when transporting my D800+. I eventually ditched the foam after it started to come apart. It's a great, inexpensive solution for when I need a little extra protection.
I like the suggestion of using “soray” Plastic Dip on the foam to seal it and give it more strength. I’ve been using Apache cases fir several years and my foam is still intact.
