Practice Amp for Warwick Corvette

Hello TB,

I will shortly be buying my first bass - probably a Warwick Corvette STD Active. I notice there are a few Warwick owners on this forum and was hoping for some advice on amps. I haven't found any shops with a good range on display so am having to rely on reviews etc.

What I'm looking for (ideally):

Combo Amp 200-300 bucks
Small as possible (and preferably light)
Headphone jack
RCA inputs for a turntable, drum machine, metronome etc.
Line out for recording

I will be using this for solo practice in my apartment so it doesn't need to be loud. I'm not looking for any effects either - just something to compliment the tone of the Warwick.

All of your choices seem good, but I don't want to recommend anything I haven't tried. I own the fender bassman 150 (Invalid Link Removed) which is a bit out of your price range, but it's a great amp. With a 12" speaker, it packs 150 watts of power, and has compression, and a semi-parametric eq section for the mids. You might also want to try the bassman 100 which is only 369, but has a 10" speaker and 100 watts. Both of them are very good practice amps.

Cheers. The Bassman 100 looks very good although a bit more than I had planned to spend. Someone in Guitar Center recommended these to me as well.

By the way, if anyone knows of some shops in NYC with a decent range of bass amps on display that would also be handy.

ive played all of the line 6 combos and in general i llike them . but they will color the sound of your bass and make it sound like their amp . to complement the warwick , get something rock solid . ive had the 15" version of the ampeg and really dug it . also , the swr workingmans 12 or 15 is really great . dont know anything on the la series ... but for the cheap , get you a behringer (normally crap in my opinion) 12 or 15 combo and run a stewart preamp in front of it .... very nice and warm . ive done this for small shows when i borrowed a friends 180 watt 12 combo ... but without the stewart its crap ...
