....40 W, 10" speaker, gets surprisingly loud for size, easily a coffee house amp and maybe more , not too heavy...lots of effects, dozens of modeling tones, including something called a Rockin' Peg ! :)
lots more bells and whistles, headphone jack , Aux in, recording and effects software, XLR out..... a bit more $$ than the others, but worth it

I would look for something small enough for a practice amp and large enough for small rooms & semi acoustic gigs. A couple of ones that come to mind are a Genz Benz Shuttle with an 8 or 10 inch speaker or a Carvin MB10. Be sure to get one with a headphone option. Sometimes even smaller Amps are too loud (sleeping apartment neighbors or sleeping spouses, etc.).

No doubt the Carvin is in a class above most practice amps. Costs a little more but the prices now are GREAT, 50 bucks LESS than I paid!

It's a DIY thing. You wouldn't understand.

+1, I modded an old Roland Cube Chorus 60 (yes, 60 watts) w/a Peavey 10" bass driver and piezo w/high pass xover amd L-pad for a practice amp as well as for use w/my double bass for small gigs. Works and sounds great and made it actually a useful amp instead of a door stop collecting dust.

That said, the Ampeg BA110 is a nice amp and I'd have gone for that had I not already had the Roland, then no doubt upgraded the speaker ;)

The ampeg practice sized combo's are great the 115 & 115hp i had trouble with both of those as have a lot of other people
Acoustic doesn't sound bad, and with a good tone shaping pedal you can get them to sound great but ime it's good that guitar center will take them back for 2 years no questions asked because you're going to need it

If you can grab one, get an ampeg B50 or 100R. AWESOME little combos. I have the 50 and I love it. You can sometimes find them on eBay for about $250, not sure what your price point is. The newer ampeg combos are great too. Check out TC combos and gallien Krueger too. The GK models can be added to if you ever want a little more boom.

Buy something used for a good price. If you are going to play at a low volume for practice almost anything will work. Keeping the volume knob to the left makes ANY amp a practice amp. Don't paint yourself into a corner buying a $200 "practice amp" when you could buy an amp you can gig with and use at low volume to practice with.

I voted for the BA110, even though I have the BA108, because it is a bit louder. My BA108 was too good of deal to pass up or I would have probably went the 110 route.

I can't recommend the BA108. Mine hums like crazy, especially when I use the RCA input. I liked my Peavey Max 115 better even though there was no volume control for the RCA input on that one. It only operated at one volume level, loud, lol.
