My cheapest bass is an Ibanez gsr205 I got used for about 100$ those and the Dean basses are pretty cool and sound great especially for how cheap you can snag them. So, let’s say you want to keep a full scale 34” practice bass around in your faculty office to twiddle with when you’ve got a few minutes of spare time. As the office isn’t super secure you don’t want to hang your valuable P-bass or Ric 4001 on the wall, but want to find a very playable, full scale bass that, if stolen/broken/loaned/lost, wouldn’t be missed much. What bass for around $200 would you buy???

The suspense is killing me.Well, I think I found my office bass. More once I have it in my hands, hopefully later today.![]()
Office bass, in office!!! I ended up spending $550, but I’m consolidating my posts in the Tbird club thread and this one as well. So I figure I resolved my issue at $275 per thread. That’s near $200!The suspense is killing me.![]()

I know. It was more than I wanted to spend, really. They had a bolt-on neck TBird model there that was only $270. I was going to look at it, really, but the difference between them was significant enough that I had to have the pricier model. I’ll likely still keep it in my office most of the time, but it’ll come home on some weekends for playing sessions, no doubt.….“if stolen/broken/loaned/lost, wouldn’t be missed much”…
A Tbird would be waaaay down on my list
for an office noodler for the reasons you mentioned in your original post but hope it brings you lots of joy in your “down time”.![]()
