Practice questions

Got a few hundred pounds of Cherry Ply that has been aging in the basement for about 7 years... I know people frown upon using plywood for a bass but would this be decent stuff to make some practice basses from and use as templates? They are 24" x 8ft x 1" they are scrap wood from the local cabinet maker around the corner.

I'm currently commandeering my fathers workshop and reorganizing it to make some basses.
