Fender coming out with new rumble 25w that has built in effects/modeling for $200ish. [Lt25]
I was looking for something between my rumble40 (bit big physically for coffee table) and vox pathfinder (lacks oomff but love size). Doesnt fit my size want but i want the effects/modeling more. Looks like good intro into my quest beyond basic tones.
Going to check one out next month and most likely trade in my old rumble. Keep pathfinder for visits/overnights at inlaws (or trade it for vx50ba) and have both.

Now that I went GAS and bought a small amp (GK mb200 with a 12" cab) for practice, I realized how my zoom b1on pedal with any cheap earphones or any generic speaker were doing this job of practicing even better than any amp/combo. Tools like a metronome, drum simulations, tuner, looper and some other stuff that are more useful for practicing than a pure 50w combo. And a new b1on is just $50.
Me, too. For a few years I used an old Silvertone 5w/8" tube amp that cost me $10, but it farted out pretty easily so I "upgraded" to a 10w/8" Crate I think I paid $40 for and still have 30 years later. Both sounded so bad most people would stop practicing just so they wouldn't have to hear those amps any more
The only cheap practice amp I've actually played and liked recently is the Acoustic B50c, $170 at GC. Warning: never use the terrible fizz-whiz overdrive. I'd check this out vs. the Rumble 40 which is $30 more. Like the Rumble, it's so light it feels like they forgot to put the amp inside the cabinet. Has the 1/8" in for a phone/iPad/computer. Better yet: find a used B50c or Rumble, save some money and give the one finger salute to GC at the same time.
As mentioned before, Fender Rumble 40. They are everywhere and best bang for your buck and 19 lbs. weight.
In my experience most small amps are OK with none being really great unless you want to pay Phil Jones prices. Ampeg is heavy, though, and that puts me off. My bedroom amp is a rumble 15 - 1st iteration.
I plug in through the aux port on my Bose Soundlink II. It gets loud enough for personal practice and sounds pretty decent.
These also have an aux input.

The Alto TX208 powered PA speaker would also work and sound much better than practice amps. Just run through a preamp pedal.

Yup. I haven't tried the modeling version, but the Rumble 40 v.3 is one of my all time favorite amps. Bought it on a whim, love it to bits. Cheap, sounds really good, nice and light too.

I use mine for a P&W gig I do at the United Gospel Mission in Fort Worth, Texas, ever week. The room holds close to 200. Gain @ 9:30, Master @ 10:30, Vintage on, no OD, no Couture, EQ flat. Any more volume and I'm too loud.
