Praise Report: GHS Big Core Bass Strings

Give GHS a call and order direct. They have a direct sales link on their website, but I do not know if they will accept foreign transactions.

We don't sell direct to people over the phone. We have an online store that carries our entire line, but you're usually better off dealing with one of our amazing online dealers (like Jason at Bass Strings Online).

I find it difficult to find some of the strings that some of you folk talk about here on talkbass... Toronto music stores don't seem to carry a hugely varied stock of bass strings

Don't even get me goin' on this! I think we canucks need to have a good ol' fashioned pitch-fork riot at the front gates to Long & Mcquade!

Power to the people!

I wish they'd carry the full line of GHS strings because they're the best. Thank you.

Who is that up there? canada? party is down here!

I just put these on my bass.....I dunno if I like them yet...nickel/iron usually has more of a growl then these strings do....they are very piano like.....I felt like they were all over the place at first....high note low note and the G string was a little boomy....but they have settled down a bit and more even toned now that I have been playing with them for 2 hours.....If I had to compare them to anything I would say they feel like a tad more tensioned fatbeam....now I hate DR strings...but I kinda like these...you can play them really fast with the tension.

wow I really cant decide if I like these....kinda bother some but i kinda like it!

A couple of months ago I sent off an email to L&M's head office, complaining about the rather limited selection of bass strings in their regular stock at their store in Winnipeg. Jeff Long in marketing responded to explain their basic philosophy behind the poor selection. Bottom line: If it's something they can't sell in large quantities, well too bad.

This is why I would rather deal with Jason at BSO. I ordered two sets of DR strings last summer, and even with a shipping fee and US-Cdn exchange rate, I still managed to save over 15% compared to what I would have spent at L&M.

So, don't even bother with the pitch-fork riot as it wouldn't be worth the trouble. Jason will be happy to meet all of your needs for strings!

I'm really sorry to hear that; I am passing it along to our international sales rep as this is stuff he needs to hear. The bummer about that is, unlike some other companies, we don't have a minimum order requirement. If they really wanted to, they could special order you a set of strings and have it drop-shipped from us, no problem. But, it sounds like they don't.

Thankfully, we do have a source like Jason at BSO. He's a good guy that has the selection, the prices, the knowledge and customer service.

Thanks for your feedback. Nice to have someone like you around within the TB community so our voices can be heard.

I would rather give my business to someone like Jason who understands and genuinely cares about the needs of his fellow bassists than some big national chain that is only concerned about their bottom line.

Second Monthly Report with close to 90 playing hours on this stringset. While most rounds would be on their way to the recycling center at this point, not so GHS Big Core Bass. They really haven't changed much at all since last month's report. The all important E-string is still lively; meaty, and well focused as is the rest of the set. Overall sound quality is excellent. The more I play the Nickel-Iron alloy wrap the better I like it. No special treatment is being given to the stringset other than being played with clean dry hands, and wiped down after every session or set.
