First off, so I finally signed up to the forum I love dropping by and getting answers for over 10 years now!
what I do: mostly warm / fuzzy and sometimes aggressive tones in a Psych Rock Band using
- Cheapo Double Bass with K&K Underwood and Schaller PU through modded K&K Preamp
- Gretsch Junior Jet
- Orange Bass Terror (from time to time messing around with an old Hiwatt Custom Slave and an old Fender Bassman)
- FMC 2 12"
- two hands full of pedals
Other than that I increasingly love spending my time building and modding everything around bassguitars, amps and cabinets. Which brings me to my question:
Soon I'm gonna spend some time in Austin, TX and due to the fact that it's hard to get your hands on good deals when it comes to vintage and pre owned instruments where I live (Austria, Central Europe), I was hoping to find some nice places selling pre owned basses somewhere around Austin and maybe come back with a new/old loved one to get my hands on.
Im very interested in short scale basses - Fenders and Gibsons are great, Kramer even greater, but I'd also love to check out Stagg, Greco, old Japanese stuff, anything really that's charming and a good deal in its own way.
So does anyone have an idea which places I could pay a visit?
thanks
Henry
