Pre Power Setting

I have a DB 659 and a QSC RMX 850. I run the QSC parallel into 2 8ohm Aguilar 112's. Right now I have the pre input volume at about 12 and the power amp gain attenuator at 3:00 and I use the preamp master volume to adjust the volume (I usually have it pretty loud: 12:00-3:00max). I was just wondering if this is a good way to adjust volume.
