Preamp/DI looking for stage sound

I'm looking to lighten up my bass rig (I think SVTs are partially made of dark matter?) and eyeing the Origin Effects BassRig preamp pedal.

A lot of gigs will just be DI into the FOH, but I still have enough gigs where I need to be loud and it'll just be a vocal PA.

What do y'all recommend for pairing with a preamp pedal for some rock-level stage sound? (hopefully ~$1K or less; < 50 lbs)

$1k might not be enough to get you there, but I would skip the OE for now, and put that towards the Class D Amp head of your choice (500W+), with the features you want (Aux-In, Effects loop, headphones out, DI, etc.). Class D doesn't require a speaker load, so when going "Ampless", just use the DI Out on your head. Pick up a cab (or two) to go with the head when you want stage sound....
