Preamp help

Okay so here is a bit of a noob question.

If i use a preamp pedal (like for say the tc electronic spectradrive) in a live perfomance, and want to play through the pa system with the xlr out. Should i then also connect the jack out to an amplifier/cabinet, or can i just go straight from my board and into the PA?

If you have a bass specific PA monitor or IEM to hear yourself, you can just go FOH.

If you need a rig to hear yourself, you can plug into an amp too.

Depends on the PA. Ime you can't count on monitors worth a damn being provided, even when they tell you it's under control.
