Allright guys, I'm getting a low hum out of my Ampeg SVP-Pro preamp. Obviously I realize its an electrical issue. I've tried to run through a power conditioner and grounding the amp, but it did not help. I can cut midrange and treble to prevent a hiss as well, but obviously I do not wish to affect my tone. How do I go about to reduce this? I love the sound it produces, just wish I didn't have the noise that comes with it. Thank you in advance for any help offered.

Preamp issues...Need advice

The first thing to do would be to lift the ground on the SVP-Pro. If that doesn't work I have heard that tube swapping will quiet down these preamps. They have a reputation for being a little noisy so a search would probably get you some good info.
As one who has some series noise issues with an SVP-Pro, the problem is one of the tubes...... I ended up sending mine back to Ampeg. They retubed it and tweaked things $125 and now it is the best pre-amp I own. Take it to a good techbass.man.005 said:
