Double Bass Preamp on the belt?

For those of you using an outboard preamp with a piezo pickup, do you tend to wear it on your belt or just set it on top of the amp?

I like the ease of adjustment with my ProEQ clipped to the belt, but a player recently commented that I looked like a cyborg with the wires coming out of me Another player in town had his preamp on top of the amp, which got me thinking...

Suggestions?

Personally I hated the prospect of "wearing" the preamp and never did it. I put velcro pieces on the back of the preamp and the top of the amp and affixed the preamp that way. Stopped using the preamp altogether when I got a new Clarus I.

I personally attach my pre to my amp as suggested above. If it is a small enough unit, some people like to attach it to their tail piece.

For a very short time I tried using a LR Baggs GigPro or MixPro on my belt and it was nothing but a pain.

I hooked my Gigpro preamp on my music stand in front of me.
I find this place better than on the belt.
and no one tell me I looked like a cyborg.
Having a preamp in that position allowed you to control your sound at a certain distance from the amp, witch is better than the preamp just on your amp, cause the sound of the bass is projected.
The Gigpro is light and in a way I find the sound better than my Fishmann Platinium. Something like: I can hear the rope of the strings.
But I have a real problem with the Gigpro: too much low medium that I don’t succeed to take out, even if I turn the knobs (Realistic pickup) .

Good idea to keep the preamp accessible. Today I tried just putting my Pro-EQ on top of the amp and it worked okay...but I'm afraid of having the amp out of reach during a song when I need to adjust the volume or EQ.

Yeah, it really depends on the gig and its requirements, I started using the belt clip or clipping it to the bottom edge of the music stand for my little K&K pre. It was later on that I decided on the tailpiece mounting, and I've pretty much stuck with that ever since.

Can't, of course, put the K&K Pure Preamp on my Eminence tailpiece (what tailpiece?) so that can end up on my belt or clipped to the Eminence stand.

It all comes down to whether the gig calls for changes during sets; sometimes one volume/tone is pretty much all that's needed for the night, and the dynamics are in your fingers.

Before , when i was standing playing , i often had the preamp in my belt (fishman) , but now when i always play on a stool , i have the preamp on the note stand or on the amp ,
Dosnt matter how it looks , just if its comfortable and functionable ..

I always hated to watch condition of the batterie:scowl: , so I had used my preamp pieced together with a solid 9Volts power supply (homemade), laying on my amp, or on the floor,after setting my sound. Now I am not using preamps, I (finally!) got the old GK 200MB, so I need not them anymore .
