preamp problems.

simple enough question, but i cant seem to find an answer anywhere. ive got a half stack amp. i forget the exact name of it, but its a gallien krueger cabinet and a warwick profet preamp.
my question is this, does the wattage on the preamp have to be higher or lower than the wattage on the cabinet? my preamp is 350watts but the cabinet is 250watts. will this end up causing me problems?

thanks for any help.

Having more watts than you need is usually a good thing. You have headroom available and probably won't clip the amp. The ratings on cabinets and amps don't tell you much about how they are going to work together. There's definitely NO need to try and find an amp with an output that equals your cabinets rating. All this stuff has been discussed to death on there. Do some searches for watts, ohms, clipping, matching, etc. and you'll get the idea.

But let your ears guide you. Listen for distorted sounds from the speakers. Does your head unit have a clip light for the output? That can help you set your levels, too.
